He belongs to esteemed organizations including the Indian Orthopaedic Association. At the Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences in Rohtak, Dr. Ashwani Maichand completed his MBBS. The Sawai Mansingh Medical College in Jaipur also awarded him an MS.
No relief for the doctor who “operated on the wrong leg” in Delhi
In January 2017, the Delhi Medical Council issued an order removing the two doctors’ names from the state medical registry for 180 days.
In an alleged case of medical negligence where a patient’s incorrect leg was operated on at a private hospital, the Delhi High Court rejected the doctor’s argument. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has been ordered by the court to determine the severity of Dr. Ashwani Maichand’s punishment. The court sent the matter back to the MCI, asking them to fix responsibility based on findings by the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) and the single bench judge.
The case of Ravi Rai, who fell down some stairs in 2016 and hurt his lower back and legs, was being heard in court. Dr. Maichand and Dr. Rahul Kakran oversaw his registration as a patient after he was brought to a private hospital. After a diagnostic X-ray of Rai’s right foot, it was discovered that his right leg had been shattered, necessitating surgery. However, it is said that they operated on his left leg.
In January 2017, the DMC issued an order removing the two doctors’ names from the state medical registry for 180 days. The DMC’s order was the subject of an appeal by Dr. Maichand to the MCI.
In August 2017, the MCI cleared Dr. Maichand, stating that there was no evidence of medical negligence against him. It nullified the penalty imposed on him by DMC. The council upheld DMC’s directive on Dr. Kakran.
The Delhi High Court dismissed Dr. Kakran’s writ case against the MCI’s choice on September 17. The patient subsequently filed a writ petition challenging the MCI’s decision in favor of Dr. Maichand, claiming that it conflicted with the conclusions noted in the DMC order.
In August 2018, Dr. Ashwani Maichand was ordered by a single-judge panel of Justice Shakdher to provide the patient compensation in the amount of Rs. 1 lakh.
For the benefit of its committees, which are entrusted with making recommendations on the guilt of and punishment to be meted out to a delinquent doctor, MCI must have a sentencing policy in place. Justice Shakdher ordered MCI to submit a report on this aspect within three months.

Varun wants to inform everyone about Dr. Ashwani Maichand, a senior orthopedic surgeon at Dr. B. L. Kapur Hospital in Pusa Road, Delhi. He has been billing clients in the name of providing top-notch orthopedic care.
On September 2, 2012, his father had an accident. He transported him to the B L Kapur hospital in an emergency, where they received Dr. Maichand as their consulting physician. The proximal femoral nail (PFN) surgery would be necessary, according to the preliminary exam and X-ray results, as the femur’s tip was broken and there was a proximal humerus fracture (Shoulder fracture).
Even though he was aware that the procedure would be difficult because his father has had diabetes and heart disease for the past six years, they agreed to his idea of having the operation. Dr. Maichand altered his mind on the third day that his father was in the hospital (out of a desire for more money and an extension of the hospital stay) and announced that two procedures would be necessary, both of which would be done on the same day. Just one day before the planned surgery, he sent Varun’s junior doctor to get his signature on the consent form, noting that it would be a high-risk procedure.
Varun declined to sign the document, stating that he would like to speak with other doctors before having the procedure—which is their right under the IPC and the medical standards established by the IMA. Dr. Ashwani Miachand intervened right away, suggesting that they shouldn’t wait too long and that it is not right, and she then began to emotionally blackmail them. Despite having trouble thinking clearly, he had surgery. When the second surgery was interrupted because his father’s health prevented it, it was decided to try again in the next three days.
His father’s condition worsened during those three days, and he had to spend six days in the intensive care unit (ICCU) after the procedure. He had an opportunity to speak with additional doctors about the shoulder fracture during those six days, and they advised against having it operated on because doing so would be ineffective after he reached a certain age. Additionally, they informed Varun that because the alignment of the shoulder bones is so dynamic, the functional movement will manifest itself naturally after six weeks. When he expressed his desire to forego the second surgery to Dr. Maichand, the doctor replied right away that he would not be treating his father because of their excessive interference.
Varun adhered to all of his instructions, spent excessive sums of money at the hospital, and on his advice, hired caregivers for his home. Varun was unaware that by providing his reference, he receives a portion of whatever Varun purchases. Varun doesn’t even want to bring up money since the emotional suffering his family has endured over the past ten months has been far more important than spending money.
Varun also encountered close to 20 people who underwent surgery with this doctor but never made a full recovery. His dad hasn’t been able to walk for the past 10 months since the operation.
Varun will also file a lawsuit against him to prevent him from being able to practice medicine. They were taken in by his manipulative emotions.

This man should get a very harsh punishment for all that he has done to his patients. They had to go through so much emotional and physical pain. He should be ashamed of himself for torturing the patients and his family for his greed. He also must be having a family what if the same happens with them?
The government should take strict actions against such doctors who are not at all ethical and have made their patients suffer so much just for some money. Victims have gone through financial loss as well as their time was wasted and they had to suffer with their health as well.
These doctors have made it their business. They are just running a business to earn money. They are not here to help other humans to heal or care for them. They have no humanity left in them. They just think about money and want to earn as much as they can from their patients.
This doctor should not be allowed to practice medicine anymore. What he has done with his patients for greed can never be accepted. He can not play with someone’s health in such a way.
This is a good article and I agree with it. The same happened with my neighbor when his father met with an accident. The doctor suggested surgeries that were risky and also were not at all needed but they just wanted money and tried to play with his emotions and manipulated him.
Doctors like him are the reason why nobody wants to trust them anymore. Is there any humanity left? They are given so much respect in society because of their contributions to humankind but it looks like they don’t want that anymore. Now they just care about increasing their wealth.
It is the responsibility of the media to expose such doctors who are deceiving their patients. Media is busy showing some bullshit and is not focusing on such important issues. It is a matter of life and exposing such doctors is necessary so that no one else has to go through such a horrifying situation.
Such cases of doctors being careless and greedy towards their patients is on the rise and we should never trust anyone that easily. This is sad that these people had to go through so much because of the doctor’s greed.
People get terrified seeing their loved one in pain and want them to get healthy as soon as possible. At that moment money doesn’t even matter to them. Doctors like him who take advantage of someone’s emotions should be ashamed of themselves.
I just want to suggest to everyone that we should never trust any doctor that easily. Maybe in the first case, he was not there when the surgery happened but other reviews about this doctor being greedy and careless are true and even that is enough to tell that we should never go to a doctor like him.
I can’t even imagine what all the victims must have gone through. When your loved one is not well then you can only trust your doctor but nowadays you can’t even trust them. They have become so money hungry that humanity doesn’t matter to them at all.
This is horrifying. I don’t understand why the medical authority didn’t punish this doctor. Some reviews say this doctor is greedy and careless toward his patients. At least they should have punished him for that.
I don’t get this if he is not a bad doctor then why are there such reviews against this doctor that says that he is a deceiver and should not be trusted? These people must not be lying. There is something wrong with this.
This is horrifying to read. Imagine spending so much money only to know that you can not get fully recovered. Doctors have become such greedy people that they are even not hesitant to play with someone’s life for money.
When your loved one is in pain then no one can think so much they will just agree with whatever the doctor says. They will pay any amount just to see their loved one healthy again and doctors like him play with the emotions of people to earn money.
