Rachel Drori Daily Harvest: Making Others Pay for Her Sins
Since causing one of the largest foodborne illness outbreaks of 2022 in the US, Rachel Drori Daily Harvest has stayed relatively silent.
Clearly, she didn’t want to face any backlash for her negligence and sheer incompetence.
So, she didn’t say much and tried to remain conservative regarding her public appearances. However, this didn’t stop her company from trying to clean up the mess.
As the founder and CEO, Rachel Drori Daily Harvest did the only responsible thing you would expect her to do – lay off 15% of the company’s staff instantly.
When Rachel Drori Daily Harvest Fired 15% of Its Staff:
In a weird fashion, the company sent out emails to the staff announcing that 15% of its staff will be laid off. Rachel blamed the inflation and other circumstances but highlighted that the lentils fiasco had nothing to do with it.
How much truth there was in the claim is unclear.
Instead of admitting fault and resigning from her position as the company’s leader, Rachel shifted the blame on her poor employees and took away their jobs when the entire economy is in shambles.
That’s not all.
The Daily Harvest CEO went on to use the funds it saved from laying off 15% of its workforce into hiring two more overpaid executives.
Replacing 15% of the Staff with Two Overpaid Executives:
According to the company, it is trying to regain its footing and the new two new execs will help it rebound from a catastrophic year. Rachel Drori Daily Harvest said in a press release:
“Having two talented executives of their caliber join the Daily Harvest team demonstrates our commitment to investing in our mission.”
It was quite something to hear her say something considering how she and her company stayed silent after sending hundreds of customers to the hospital. According to media reports and sources, hundreds of Daily Harvest customers suffered severe gastrointestinal problems after taking their French Lentil + Leek Crumbles dish.
The US Food and Drug Administration is investigating the matter and has found more than 380 cases of illness linked to that very dish.
Almost all of the victims of Rachel Drori Daily Harvest suffered symptoms of acute liver damage. Around 30 of the victims were forced to undergo gallbladder removals.
William Marler, the attorney representing over 350 Rachel Drori Daily Harvest victims, told the media that many people have been forced to spend tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical fees because of this incident.
