Imagine getting legal threats because you shared the bad experience you had with your surgeon with someone else. Sounds absurd, isn’t it? For David L. Cangello, MD, FACS this is just another day in office.
He is a plastic surgeon based in NYC and runs the Cangello Plastic Surgery clinic. David claims to be a seasoned expert in multiple cosmetic procedures. His patients tell the opposite.
According to a plethora of David Cangello reviews, this surgeon lacks the skill and professionalism to operate as a plastic surgeon. On top of that, he doesn’t like a speck of criticism and sends threats to any patient who shares his or her complaint online.

Dr. Cangello claims to be a “leading” plastic surgeon in NY. He also claims to pursue natural looking superior results even though his clients disagree.
David received his medical degree from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. He performs fat grafting, breast lift, breast augmentation, lip lift, eyelid lift, neck lift, facelift, and plenty of other procedures.
However, no matter how skilled he is, Dr. Cangello doesn’t like to take responsibility for his actions. The proof is on his website. His website has a small disclaimer saying “Results will vary from person to person”.
Many shady service providers use this tactic to avoid responsibility. For example, Elite Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in San Antonio is a clinic with a ton of complaints against its name. It also uses this disclaimer to avoid any legal responsibility.

Threatening a Reviewer for a Bad Review to Scare Them into Removing the Complaint (With Screenshots)
The above reviewer had seen Dr. Cangello a year before leaving her review. She shared that she had a long consultation session with Dr. Cangello. However, it didn’t result in anything fruitful because she didn’t want to have a surgery in an office.
She had contacted the clinic to enquire about other surgical work but they didn’t reply to any of her emails. Moreover, the surgical coordinator was quite aggressive and asked her if she wanted to book the surgery right after she met with him.
Later, she updated her review because Dr. Cangello started threatening her on her Instagram accounts. All she had done was shared her opinion with another girl.
Then, David started threatening to sue her. She updated her review and added that it’s illegal to threaten clients like this and that he can’t sue her because of Anti-SLAPP laws. Anti-SLAPP laws prevent people from threatening to file a lawsuit when they exercise their First Amendment rights.
The reviewer has shared the screenshots of her conversations with Dr. Cangello below. He first claims that he can sue her for defamation and even if she wins the case, the cost of defending herself in the court will be “exorbitant”.
David even goes on to add that he and his team will find out who she is and prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law for defamation. All of his threats were so she would delete her review.
It’s a common tactic among shady businesses to threaten consumers with lawsuits simply for sharing their negative experience online. They don’t like it when someone exposes their terrible business practices with others.
POC Should Avoid Dr. David Cangello
The above reviewer has alerted POC to avoid Dr. David Cangello. They had a rhinoplasty with him and pointed out that Dr. Cangello doesn’t have much experience in working with POC and it shows in his work.
Their nose doesn’t look anything like what they had expected. Even after 9 months, the scars are clearly visible. They were hoping that their nose will start looking better but now they will have to hire another surgeon to fix his botched work.
On top of that, the reviewer shares that the customer service of Cangello Plastic Surgery is horrible. They called and emailed the clinic multiple times because their nose was bleeding and flesh was hanging off of their nose. All of this happened because a stitch was left in their right nostril, affecting the healing process.
Neither David nor his staff apologized to this person.
Moreover, they didn’t receive a single follow up after that incident. The clinic told them that the assistant would give them a call to schedule the next meeting. But the call never came.
The reviewer suggests avoiding Dr. Cangello because they don’t want anyone else to go through the pain and emotional suffering they went through.
Dr. Cangello Never Saw the Client for a Post-Op Meeting, Rescheduled Appointments for Months
The above reviewer had her first consultation with Dr. David Cangello in November 2020. She wanted a rhinoplasty. David performed the rhinoplasty in December 2020 but he never had a single post-op meeting with her since then.
She points out that the staff and doctor were very nice in the beginning. However, that was only to get her to make the deposit.
Their behavior did a 180 when the reviewer paid them. David had assured her that he would perform a closed procedure with very little down time. However, when she woke up she had 3 cuts around her nose suggesting it was an open procedure, not what he had promised.
The surgery started very late in the afternoon and she had her first follow-up meeting 6 days after the procedure. However, 2 hours before the surgery, the office assistant called Puja called her to reschedule the appointment.
The reviewer was very disappointed because this meant she would have to spend her Christmas with the tapes on even though they had promised it would come off before Christmas.
Afterwards, Puja rescheduled her appointments multiple times. The reviewer had no option but to go to ER herself. Afterwards, the reviewer received unexpected bills from Northwell hospital and North Shore anesthesiology facility amounting for $5,000.
The clinic shared that they failed to disclose such bills. Moreover, she hasn’t received any itemized bill for the total cost of the procedure.
The reviewer shares that Dr. Cangello and the clinic behave well only until they get the deposit. Her experience was dreadful and she’s sure the clinic scammed her.

Office Assistant Gives Incorrect and Contradictory Information
This reviewer shared a complaint on the clinic of Dr. Cangello. According to them, the office assistant is a nightmare to work with. They tried to get multiple procedures from him but the incompetent and rude behavior of the office assistant forced them to go elsewhere. Apparently, the office assistant gave them incorrect and contradictory information. Moreover, she kept ignoring the reviewer’s emails and couldn’t get an appointment at all.
Dr. Cangello Gave a Bumpy, Collapsed and Dysfunctional Nose
The above reviewer had a terrible experience with David L. Cangello, MD, FACS. She had a bulbous nose and wanted it refined. However, David left her a dysfunctional, collapsed, and bumpy nose.

Charged $12,000 to Botch a Rhinoplasty Giving a Bumpy Nose
Zahra had hired Dr. Cangello for a rhinoplasty. She paid him $12,000 and expected to get proper results. However, a year later, the nose is uneven, crooked and bumpy. It doesn’t look like the nose she had discussed with the doctor. Although Dr. Cangello offered to perform a revision surgery at a lower cost, Zahra says she can’t trust him with her nose again.
When she shared her concerns with him he responded by saying “everyone has flaws”. Zahra points out that she had hired him to take care of the bump and unevenness. Clearly, he couldn’t perform the procedure successfully. The reviewer also wishes that they would at least refund a portion of the cost as they couldn’t deliver the promised results.

Another Rhinoplasty Botched, Gave a Crooked Nose with a Prominent Hump
The above reviewer had gone to Dr. Cangello for rhinoplasty. However, he botched the procedure. The reviewer paid $15,000 for the procedure and received a large hump. Even when 7 months had passed since the procedure, the hump didn’t go anywhere. Instead, it kept growing in size as the swelling went down.
Like many of David’s clients, this reviewer also points out that his behavior changed after he received the payment.
They point out that the staff was very kind initially but they stopped answering their calls and emails after getting the money. Moreover, after multiple post-op meetings, the reviewer realized that Dr. Cangello had no plans to fix his mistakes. He kept telling the reviewer to come back after three months and assured them that their nose was getting better.
Later, the reviewer points out that their nose’s tip started drooping when they smiled. Also, it has become uneven and crooked. Certainly, these aren’t the results they were looking for.
Charged $20,000 for a Botched and Disappointing Procedure
This reviewer also had a horrible experience with Dr. David Cangello. They highlight that the clinic is very disorganized and there’s a lot of miscommunication between Dr. David Cangello and his office assistant, Puja.
The office assistant doesn’t participate in some discussions you have with David. So when things go wrong, they can say that there has been a misunderstanding.
The reviewer had met with David multiple times to discuss their concerns before the pandemic. They paid the prices for the surgery in total before the pandemic as well which amounted to $20,000. Later, their surgery was delayed but the clinic didn’t send them any updates even when elective surgeries were opening again.
Due to such poor treatment, the reviewer asked for a refund of the paid amount. However, Puja convinced the reviewer to have the procedure as they had already spent so much time waiting for it.
The reviewer points out that on the day of the surgery, the anesthesiologist behaved horribly. He ended the conversation with “how are you going to pay me?”. Moreover, even though the reviewer had discussed their concerns with Dr. Cangello multiple times, he failed to address them during the surgery.

There are a ton of complaints against him and this is when many people avoid sharing their personal experiences online. Most people don’t like to share their negative experiences with others due to embarrassment or shame.
Still, it would be better to avoid the guy.
Going through the various complaints against Dr. Cangello, it’s obvious that he lacks the skill or professionalism to successfully perform surgeries. Moreover, he likes to threaten his clients with lawsuits if they complain about his botched procedures online, which suggests he’s a very spiteful person.
